And one there was a band he was named Speaks Riddles .
Hi tísiraaku ápac hi si’ahawicka’ siwitírakuutiirit .
And these (du) both and they (du) wanted for them (du) to see each other .
Hi kara’ahasakuraahu’ siwitírakuutiirit .
And the day had not come for them (du) to see each other .

Hi iriikuruuhiraawi’u   hi Cikstií’us híru ahiwícka’     Aáka
And it being that time , and Wise Spirit then he thought : ' Oh
  ku’aátuutiirit Pakuraaricákawu .
, I wish I might see him Speaks Riddles .

"

Hiru ahawícka’ Pakuraaricákawu     Ku’aátuutiirit Cikstií’us .
Then he thought Speaks Riddles : ' I wish I might see him Wise Spirit .

"

Ráwa ahútsi’a Pakuraaricákawu   hiru ahuciíriksat Cikstií’us .
Now he did it Speaks Riddles : then he went to see him Wise Spirit .
Iraarákitahku karawitií’ut ahiítat .

Hi ahawícat .
And he arrived .

Hiru ahiwáku’     Tíratiira kuhaásatkuuku’ .
Then he said : ' Since I've come I guess you have heard .
Iriwítat Pakuraaricákawu .
I am the one Speaks Riddles .
Cikstií’us taátatkuuku’ iriwitaásasa’ .
Wise Spirit I heard it you are named that .
I riitaráspi’a .
And I have come looking for you .
Ráwa riíticka’ rátkuwaaka íriiraticka’a rátkuwaaka .
Now I want for me to say what I want for me to say .
Kaakiíraakii hiru itií’at .
It won't be long then I'll go .

"

Híru ahiwáku’     Ráwa súkspiitit hi isiwáku’ irikuuhasicka’a
Then he said : ' Now sit down and say what you want
rákuwaaka =.
to say ! "

Ráwa ahiwiítit .
Now he sat down .
  Ráwa tatuuhaara’ihku’ tíratiira   aáka
' Now I mean the way as I came , oh ,
tiwiraháhkaku irakátariiru pítku
this which was in the valley that fast runner two (of us)
kusikuuhatuu’a .
it seemed that there were (du) .
Ráwa iwiratihuukataa hiru wiruurikuciksa rikucpáhat .
Now as I came across then it reminded me of red birds .
Aáka   hawa íratuuhaa’iirit iwiratihkata’a   hi ístu
Oh , also what I saw as I came up (the hill) , and again
riituuta iratuuhaa’iirit irahiiwaata irakuuhaarawaahat   hi
I did it as I saw them as I looked (in) that valley , and
ruuhiraahkuuhaarawaahat kutahásawa háskaatit   hi
there in that valley it looked like strings black ropes , and
irahásawa háskaatit kurahasiki .
those (strings) black ropes their looking like .
Aáka   hi riihiiwatpa   hiru iraahkiirahkuuhahkasa
Oh , and I looked around : there that valley with water
irakiraruuta iirakiraarawaawara   hi akuutuú rakapáhcu’
that water extending that water spread out , and it looked like roots
irakurahwiiraku irakiraarawaawara .
those standing up in the water that water spread out .
Aki kutiit irahakapactahwiirawaaraki .
And here they seem to be those roots standing up in the water .
I cáhiks iratuuhaa’iiriku irakuuhaarawaawari   hi
And people when I saw them as they were going around in the valley , and
tihiriituuhaa’iirit irakuuhaarawaahat hi iraararawaahat cáhiks
I saw these (in) that valley and those standing people
irahawaahat .
those standing .
Hi riitári’   rakuksta’iwaahaaku kurakuu rakukikat
And they were doing it : wiping themselves as though to be crying
kurakukikakspaahu irakuuhaarawaahat rakukiiraruuwaahí
as if they were crying (in) that valley taking the water off ,
wirahkukicka’as   kickaawisu’ wirahkukickaasistahkaawa’a .
as one would sweat , the sweat as the sweat came out all over him .
Hi iratuuruuta iratuhwiíwaahat wiraaricahkaaíspa’a
And that village (extending) that village when they came in the village ,
aáka   íratuuhaa’iirit raaríksisu’ kaakiiraa =. Kutuú’
oh , what I saw truly it was not ! It seemed ,
rihwakiihu   kutuu’ rakukispakuhuricahpiruutiku .
their saying , it seemed that they were bending over and creeping around .
Híru rúci’a   irakaawaawi   hi irahkatahaahiri’   aáka
Then she did it : those lodges , and in front , oh ,
atíka’ iruutári ra’iwií’ahu raáhuriitat
grandmother as she was doing it her rocking back and forth always
iratkátaku   hi ra’íwii’ahu .
as she sat by the fire , and her rocking back and forth .
Hi riituukat irákaawi hi riihiikakuspihat hi riítuukat .
And I went in that lodge and I moved the door flap aside and I went in .
Hi riihiíwatpa .
And I looked around .
Aáka   kutuú cahikspakskiisu’
Oh , it seemed human skulls
rakupakskiiskaatarucpaawi .
that skulls were scattered around in the back .
Ráwa hiriraaturuuta hiriituuhaa’iirit   kítu’ tatuuhaá’iirit
Now where the village extended I saw them , all I saw them
tíraraaku .
these things .
Ráwa hiru riitiriiwacitiksa’ .
Now then I came out .

Ráwa tíratiira   hi tíratiira títaku tiwiriitihwica’ ti’iriirasku .
Now as I came , and as I came here I have arrived where you are .
Ráwa iwiriituhta kíra karuu raskuwaaka cáskiit
Now I am going to go to see if you can say (ie interpret) a little
ti’iriwiratpaaka ki tiratukstaatára’u .
this that I have said here this that I told .

"

Aáka   hiru ahúci’a   tíraaku cáhiks ruu’ahiwáku’     Ístu
Oh , then he did it : this person then he said : ' Again
kispáku’ .
say it .

"

  Háwa witatpaku’ .
' Also I have said it .
    Rikúksu’ tikispáku ruu’áwit iriíraspaaka .
" ' Just say this there first what you said .
Rihúksu’ háwa tikispáku’ ruu’istú .
Just also say this again .
  Witihuúkita’at     Rihúksu’ tikispáku’ .
" He repeated it : ' Just say this .
Háwa ti’ispáku’ .
Also say this .
Háwa tikispáku’ .
Also say this .

"

Ráwa tiítaku hiru riiwáku’ tíraaku     Ráwa witaátat .
Now here then he said this one : ' Now I'll go .
Istú kukustirii’a .
Again I will come sometime .
  Hiru ahuúcaa’ .
" Then he arose .
Hiru ahú’at .
Then he went .

Ráwa tíraaku Cikstii’us iwi’ahuútawaahi cíksu’ ráwa
Now this Smart Man as he was giving thought to it now
iwiraáta hiru ahasakuruuci ahuútawaahi cíksu’ íraaku
after he went then it was days his giving thought to it that
Cíkstii’us .
Smart Man .
Ráwa karawitihaakawaacu’ a ráhiirit karawitikíkaahu’ .
Now he was not eating and moreover he was not drinking .
Aáka   ráhiirit wituútawaahi’ cíksu’ .
Oh , all the time he was thinking .
Aáka   tihwakí’aahu’ tiriitat tiraaturuuta cikstii’usiskawi’u’ .
Oh , they were saying this camp this village the wisest one .
kaakí’ táku’ títaku   a hiriiwáku’ kara’araa’iita
There was not anyone here , and one says if he does not know
tíraaku kítu ritaraa’iitawista   kítu’ rikutaraa’iitawa .
this one all he is going to know ; everything he will know that .

Ráwa tahiwiriraaku wikariiriitiriiraa’iita =. Ráwa   aáka
' Now this one here I don't know it ! Now , oh ,
kíra si’iskuriíturit .
see if you can fetch him for me .

"

Ráwa irikuuhasákaruuc hi si’ahiiturit
Now however many days it was and after they went for him
Pakuraaricakawu .
Speaks Riddles .
Hiru ahaa’ .
Then he came .

Hi ahiwáku’     Ráwa   aáka   ráwa sukspiítit =. Aáka
And he said : ' Now , oh , now sit down ! Oh ,
tiriicca raaríksisu’ tawiruuriiraatiihat .
as I lie here truly here is the end of the way .
Witikuucikstarahkisiciisat .
My mind is sorely tired .
Ráwa   iíka   tasiiwattiks tirihwakiíhu .
Now , oh , it is true what they say .
Witaásasa’ Pakuraaricakawu .
You are named Speaks Riddles .
Ruuwitasiiwattiks .
Then it is true .
Ráwa kispáku’ iriikuhasuhaara’ihku .
Now tell it what you meant .

"

Hi pítku kusikuuhatura tiratiira tirahurahka’iisa .
' And two it seemed I was like it when I came this land coming .
Ráwa wíriituhaara’ihku’ iwiratihtawíraa iwirasakuriisata hi
Now I meant as I came down as the sun set and
wiruuraakahahku rakátariiru pítku kusikuuhatuura .
as there was darkness the fast one two it looked like we were .
Ráwa raátu a ukaátawi’u’ kutuú irakiicuhat   hi pítku
Now I and a shadow it seemed that stream , and two
kusiriiti’at .
it seemed we went .

  Iriiruriitihuukataat   hi ápic iruhaarírahaaru hi
' I crossed there , and across (on) that other side and
ríkucpahat   aáka   riwáharit witihaawaras hi   hi   iíka
the red birds : oh , plums they were ripe and , and , oh
  kuharacakaahat .
, they had fallen off .
Kutirarihicca ríkucpahat
It seemed they were lying spread out red birds
rakukshihpaakára’u   riwáharit ruutiracakúrihit .
the feathers having been plucked , plums they were so red .

  Ráwa híru riitiriikata’ .
' Now then I came up (the hill) .
Hiru riituci’a   hiriitihkataa’ .
Then I did it : I came up (the hill) .
Iwiratihkataa tirastakitat ratihkukataa   aáka   iriihiiwaata
As I came up this village of yours as I came up , oh , I looked :
ruu’iratiira ruuriraahkuuhaarawaahat ruu’iiratiira iraáriki
as I came there there in that valley as I came there that one (stan)
ruu’iritahásawa háskaatit .
there were strings black ropes .
Táraha’ isaárit ikurihasawa háskaatit .
Buffalos they were those seeming like strings black ropes .
Hi sikuhiratahiispaawa irakiraaruu’a   hi sirihkutitara .
And they drove them in water that water , and their putting them down .
Hi tahaáwi’uuhat hi taraspaáririitit hi
And it would fall in the water and it would lie on its back and
tarurastahwirahaaririitit hi
it would lie on its back with its hoofs upright and
kurihaakapactahwiraaku iraraárasa táraha’ .
it looked like stumps sticking up those lying in the water buffalos .
Aáka   tiraririiku .
Oh , he was picking them up .
Hiru riíci’a   hiru kaciiharaaku’ hiru kuuhihkuwaawari’ .
Then they did it : then afoot then they were butchering them .
Kuruuhiriiracahpaawu .
Thereupon they were packing them .
Hiru kuruuhiriirarikuhahkawa .
Then thereupon they took them to a depression .
Iwiraracakusta’a wirahkucikstawiriitu
As they carried them on their backs when they were hot
tihkickaasistahkaawa rakukickaasistaruwaahi tihiwiraararicahkuruukut .
they broke out in sweat ones wiping the sweat off as they got into the village .

Hi kici cápaat kítu’ witirurakusaksiirit   i
And but the woman everything they prepared things , and
rahkuriisapaawahat táraha’   i iraáku ckariitki
putting stakes around the buffalos , and that hide
rahkuuririwaakitka .
spreading it out .
Tihwakí’aaku’ ahikstapiriwusuuku’ tarahaarickuu’ .
They say they used to scrape it buffalo hair .
Kítu’ tarawa kísaacu’ .
All they took it off the flesh .
Ráwa rihkuracaahiisika witihkaruuku’ cáhuuki kitu’
Now as they were drying them they were making them robes completely
wiriracahis cíkstit .
when they were dry well .

Ráwa tiítaku   aáka   atíka’ raahúriitat rakuu’iwiiwahu
' Now here , oh , grandma all the time as she was rocking
  hi tiítaku atíka’ iraa’iwii’ahu tuhaará’ihku’
, and here grandma that one rocking it means
tuhátawu iwirakiiraruuwaha irakiistahaaru .
she was making holes when she scraped the liquid off those bones cooking .
Irikuhakiraawu kiírariitu’ íriwaarurihu .
She spilled it soup as she was blowing .
Hi ríraruuraakita íraari ahitki irataraasitaari
And that is the reason its becoming and grease that which was freezing
íraari kiískiicu’ .
its becoming tallow .
Ráwa cáhiks ruuruci’a iriítari
Now a person he did it as they were doing it :
irariwíruukawaakaruuku ruuriiririiráhuupu irakáwaawi .
after they rolled them into balls then they took them in those lodges .
Hiru kíhaaru’ hi wirikaatarucpaawi iraruuci kiískiicu’
Then the room and one puts them in the back those lying tallow
kúrakuuru akutahpakskiiskaatarucpa cahikspakskiisu’ .
its looking like there were skulls lying in the back human skulls .
Ráwa   aáka   iwiratuuhaa’iirit kukaakiiraakápaakis
Now , oh , what I saw there was no poorness , "
tiwíkaahu’     hi ruu’ítirii’a’ kíra ituútiirit
he was saying , ' and then I came to see if I could see you ,
Cikstií’us .
Wise Spirit .
Ráwa tíratiira kítu’ tiwitirariruuraa’iiwati   hi kici
Now as I came everything now that I have told you , and but
rikutatuhaara’ihku’ .
that is what I mean .
