anuu naapakúhtuʾ wewitipsiraaNIhuúʾU tsu šinikuusuxtaa- ʾiitawíhA
Long, long ago it was many winters, but what they used to tell us (du),

tuxtaaʾiitUxtaná nakunaaʾiiwaawaátI tsu niiNAhkuuxItkáʾU wah tiwenatunaaʾiitIštáNIt.
He had stories his telling stories but what he had heard, now this that I am going to tell.

wiítA wiináxtš– witirá– weNAhkuWIskáʾA aataraáhNA taawirás
A man a boy– he had– who wanted 'that I have it' a hoop,

'that I have a hoop' when he asked for it "Father, make it for me a hoop!

And this man then he got out.

Then he went when he looked for it for him a hoop– his son

It was a hoop whatever it was like whether it was large or whether it was small.

Now he had been blessed by it a buffalo one, a buffalo four its having winters.

Now then it said: "I will be the one.

I will be friends with that one your son.

He and I will play hoop and pole.

that he and I win things the boy the one I am going to be a friend with."

wah tinaákUx nikunoowiwiteewíroʾ haakaawíʾuʾ.
Now this one then it turned itself into it a hoop.

Now it was a buffalo, a male buffalo its winters numbering four.

nooteerikaaʾiíšaʾ.
Then he brought it home.

And don't just throw it around."

na nikunoowituúta tinaákUx wiináxtš weNAh-
