Alfred Morsette

wah štoh wetatunaaʾiitíštA šinikuusuxtaaʾii-
Now again I am going to tell a story the ones they used

My mother mine died a baby when I was but what I
tuuxAtkawaawooxukú NIhkunaaʾiiwaawaátI atíkaʾ
used to hear when they told stories, my grandmother

her telling it something.

wah tuuneskoóhAt neskaRAhkatAhaáhniniʾ aNAhunuuwaáWI Axtóh
Now that sky there up in the heavens the ones living surely

I do not know but this is the story as they told it.

noo wiináxtš noowitiwaákoʾ atíʾAx tatinihnaatéʾ.
Then a boy then he said: "Father, I like it.
tatskáʾ aatataweekoóčI nuuNAhukakaahunuuwaáWI.
I want to be among them the ones living there below.
tatinihnaatéʾ naapaatúh.
I like it the enemy way.

I want for me to be among them what they do that other land."

na noowitiwaákoʾ tinaákUx hiʾáxtiʾ wah tsu tAxíʾ wiítA.
And then he said this one his father: "Now but you are a man.
nikukooxuúʾUt.
It will be thus.

You will go.
na neeNAsšaWIsátA štoh tAxiiNAhíštA.
And when you are satisfied, again you'll come.
kooxiínaʾ Ištóh neeNAsšaWIsátA niikooNAxuutaawaaníštA niiweNAxwaawanuxtáNIt.
You'll come back when you're satisfied whatever you are going to do wherever you are going to be."

wah noowiteehUhtakaáʾ tinaaríčI wiináxtš.
Now then he dropped down this boy.

Whatever he did, whatever happened when he dropped down,

then he got there where we were living here on earth ourselves.

wah tinaákUx wiináxtš nuuwenaátA

na noowitiwaákoʾ tinaaríčI wiítA -- noowitiwiitaNIhuúʾU -- witiwaákoʾ
And then he said this man -- he was heavy set -- he said:

And then he said: "Alright.
